American Airlines forms veterans group with Cary chapter - Triangle Business Journal:

American, a subsidiary of Fort Texas-based (NYSE: AMR), said Wednesdauy that it is forming a Veteran Military EmployeeResourcr Group, which will promote the contributions of veterans and active-duty military employeesd in the U.S. work The group also will serve as a liaisoh between American Airlines and the veteraj andmilitary communities. VMERG will have chapters in Chicago andFort Worth, Texas. More than 60 percenyt of American Airlines pilots and abou 10 percent of all employees are active militaryg service membersor vets.
"Wr are very excited to have the opportunity to units the volunteer efforts alreadhy given by so many American employees," VMERG President Susan Seelbach, who workw in the American Airlines reservations office in Cary, said in a writtenb statement. "Our employees are very passionate abouft providing support to the men and both active dutyand veterans, who bear our nation'xs colors and protect our freedoms." Employees at Americanm have volunteered for many years, but Seelbacu says that the corporate support gainee from organizing into an employee resource group will increase the group'zs impact.
The airline also said that VMERGy is planning a North Carolina Heroes Galaon Aug. 29 in the Triangl that will benefit area service menand women. The Cary chaptefr has 20 members.
